Dori Ellowitch

Psychotherapist

Dori (she/her) uses a collaborative approach to identify and implement the kind of change that can make you feel better prepared to navigate transitions and setbacks in life. Before becoming a psychotherapist, Dori spent over 15 years in account management and eventually as a director. She understands the complexity of the corporate world, and the interpersonal demands that can be placed on people in competitive professional environments.

Dori completed her graduate training at Rutgers University. Her practice is rooted in the psychodynamic approach, which allows for deep exploration of the historical, foundational experiences that shape who we are. Dori helps people navigate a wide range of challenges including anxiety, grief, interpersonal trauma, and relationship challenges. Dori also specializes in working with ADHD, including tailoring her approach for the unique way it presents in men and women. In particular, ADHD is often undiagnosed in women, presenting in ways that are less typically observed. For example, hyperactivity can be internalized, and instead present as perfectionism. Hypersensitivity and hypervigilance can often be dismissed as a person overly emotional. Dori is particularly attuned to these symptoms and associated shame they may cause.

Dori also has been trained in somatic experiencing, which allows her to help people tap into the physical sensations that are connected to feelings, to provide another way to explore and process what they are going through.

Dori understands that coming to therapy and beginning the change process can feel intimidating. She aims to have each session feel like a natural conversation like you might have with a friend, to foster discussions that are open and nonjudgmental, so you can move toward lasting personal growth.
