Sex Therapy

At Manhattan Therapy, we offer Sex Therapy that is whole-person centered.

Sexuality is a crucial piece of our humanity, and yet, our sex lives are where we often feel most vulnerable and exposed. Broaching this in therapy can feel extremely difficult. Sex therapy is a discipline of talk therapy that is focused on issues relating to sex and sexuality, including: sexual desire/interest, sexual trauma, mismatched libido, sexual pain/painful orgasm, erectile dysfunction, inability to orgasm, pornography overuse, premature ejaculation, compulsive sexual behaviors, heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ sexual challenges, kink, polyamory/open relationships, low or high libido, distressing sexual thoughts, and much more. In the same way that relationship patterns are explored in traditional talk therapy, in sex therapy, we can take a closer look at how the same patterns are appearing sexually. There is no sexual contact that takes place during sex therapy sessions.

Sex therapy can be helpful for both individuals and couples, and can be practiced from a number of orientations. Kelsey Logan practices sex therapy from a psychodynamic and relational standpoint, which provides a holistic, whole-person perspective into your sex life. She is pleasure centered and meets clients where they are - there are lots of ways to have a fulfilling, gratifying sex life, and no two people are the same. As needed or requested, Kelsey can also provide referrals, book recommendations, and sexual “homework” assignments. Sex therapy can still be useful even if a sexual issue isn’t what brings you to therapy - sometimes it’s connected in ways we don’t even realize!
