Michael Cinquino

Master’s Level Therapist Trainee

Michael Cinquino (he/him) believes the quality of our lives is shaped by the quality of our relationships. That includes romantic relationships, family, friendships, and the relationship we have with ourselves, the one that quietly influences every other bond. Many people seek therapy during seasons of change, including divorce, reinvention, or the unsettling feeling that a once familiar life no longer fits. Michael’s work helps clients strengthen their relational capacity so they can move through transition with more clarity, steadiness, and self-trust.

Michael holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Rutgers University and is currently enrolled at Northwestern University in the Clinical Mental Health Master’s program, where he is completing advanced clinical training with a psychodynamic orientation. He also served in the U.S. military, an experience that shaped his understanding of identity, authority, and what sustained pressure can do to a person over time. His background in performance and high visibility environments informs a nuanced understanding of self-consciousness, shame, and the pull to manage how one is perceived.

In therapy, Michael works relationally and psychodynamically, with attention to attachment, nervous system responses, and the patterns that get formed around closeness, conflict, and self-worth. He offers a steady, thoughtful space to understand what has been adaptive, what is no longer working, and what becomes possible when we feel safe enough to be more fully ourselves.

Michael sees clients in person at our West Village office.
